Hendrick Motorsports continues to show the strength of their race cars and motors. Today, all four Hendrick drivers qualified near the front - the top four to be exact. Jeff Gordon took the pole with a speed of 178.248 mph followed by Johnson, Martin, and Earnhardt Jr.
The overall speeds were down from what the usual qualifying speeds are at Talladega, a result from a smaller restrictor plate in order to slow the cars down.
Sam Hornish Jr. qualified for Robby Gordon, but was disqualified due to failing post qualifying inspection. The car will start in the rear. Mike Skinner, Tony Raines, and Michael McDowell failed to qualify on time.
