An attempt at Sprint Cup Series qualifying was made at Kentucky Speedway Friday, as some cars worked their way onto the speedway for an attempt at the pole, however, rain stopped all the drivers from making an attempt. Therefore, qualifying was canceled, causing the lineup for Saturday night's race to be set by the only practice session on Friday. Thus, Kyle Busch will start on the pole, since he was the fastest in the practice session. Among the highlights of the drivers missing the show, Michael Waltrip, who planned to honor his brother Darrell Waltrip with a special paint scheme, will be unable to race although his car was fast enough, due to the rules.
Also missing the race are David Stremme, T.J. Bell, David Starr, and Robby Gordon.
