Brian France has announced changes to NASCAR's point system which has been around since 1975.
The new points system will award 43 points for the win and each position going down to last decreases by one, until last place receives one point. There will be 3 extra points for winning as well, plus 1 point for leading a lap and another for leading the most.
Therefore the most points a driver can receive is 48.
As far as the Chase, the top ten make it in on points and the other two positions get in based on wins. The drivers that get in on wins must have the most wins outside the Chase but inside the top 20.
